I am a 57 year old healthy male. I have lived in several parts of the U.S. and for a few years outside the country. I have rejected organized religion in my own life and doubt the existence of a personal god who is watching me write this but I have experienced spirituality and stay open to it and respect it in other people. I came of age in the sixties with much of what that implies, I have served in the army, and I have completed 14 years of formal schooling. I have continued to educate myself to try to understand and deal with the world. I call myself a liberal, proudly, and my Republican friends accuse me of being a liberal, but I am conservative in many ways. [Maybe we can talk about it.] This past year I worked for H. Dean in the Iowa caucuses and expect to travel to a swing state, probably Florida, in October or November and work for Kerry. If Kerry wins I will hope the D. party will start to turn green.
If we were to meet , what would we do? Probably coffee or lunch but there are many possibilities from there on if we choose to look further. For excercise I play tennis three to five times a week, I like hiking, have sailed quite a bit, traveled most of the U.S., much of Central America, some of S. America and Europe, and expect to do more. I like to read and especially enjoy sharing a good book with a friend. Currently, my favorite musician is Gregg Brown. If i wasn't so clumsy on the floor I would dance a lot. Something I would like to do is attend a poetry jam or slam poetry contest. I would describe myself as a person whose nature is to be loyal, idealistic and a little romantic and whose life experience has coated it all with a thin veneer of cynisism. My ideal mate or good friend would enhance the first three and minimise the last of these traits. The recent bumper sticker that I like best says "God bless the whole world".
