A radical old prideful dyke who firmly believes that the personal is political. Raised in Iowa in the middle of 13 children with strict conservative parents who believed in the system. Spent 3 years in the army and 4 in the navy bringing me to a place to be very anti-military from first hand experience. Although, I do support those in uniform doing what - they believe to be the right thing. I am very angry with the bush administration for using them to go it alone on the Iraq Invasion, side stepping the UN-all based on falsehoods and fueling it with the guise of Iraq being responsible for the atrocities of 9/11/2001. Plus, leaving it on the backs of a few. I have a niece in Iraq, recently told to get ready for another year over there, after finding out she would not get her break after 6 months in country. She'll be able to come home after a year for a break BUT TO GET READY FOR ANOTHER YEAR??

I find it difficult to live in a time when human beings that do some of our hardest work for the least amount of compensation are referred to as illegal aliens. There are far too many people in our country without health insurance that are honest hard working people because insurance is just too expensive. Some people that are able to pay their insurance premiums as well as the expected co-pay when they need to see a doctor while making less than $10/hr, paying approximately 10% of their wages to keep that insurance. If our richest people paid 10% of their income to insurance, universal health care could be a reality. I feel if we are to live in a global economy, we need global environmental laws, as well as global labor laws. I have always been a part of the working class economically poor.
I am proud of my identity as a lesbian and will do what I can to better our future and those of the younger gblt people coming up now.
I do love walks on the beach, especially Folly Beach at sunrise. I love to fish. I like most kinds of music and love to dance when I get the chance. I surely do need to get in shape after gaining weight the last few years........and need to quite smoking cigarettes. I am so hooked on them that I am actually trying a smoking cessation class at the VA hospital to help. I am a home body and a bit of an old hippy.
I love live music but have not found the right places yet here near Charleston. I am a good friend to those who I consider a friend. I try to be open minded but have difficulty with christianity, believing it to be such a narrow view of the spiritual circle and have a problem with sexuality being such an issue for most churches. I have been told I am honest to a fault. However, am learning to soften that a bit being in the south. I consider myself to be androgenous.
Would like to find friends to do things with and if compatablity and chemistry are there, perhaps an intimate relationship with longnevity to be determined by our hearts. I have a herstory of serial monogamy with my longest relationship being about 4 years. I have moved around alot, I quess being a bit of a wanderer and love to have fun.
