I'm troubled by the trends in this country, particularly the spirit of insatiable, unrestrained greed and mean-spiritedness that seems to be gaining a stronger and stronger hold. I don't subscribe to any organized religion but I have a very strong sense of justice. I'm not a knee-jerk ideologue. I try my best to think critically and independently. I loathe bigotry of any kind--racial, gender, ethnic. I'm a vegetarian and a pet lover, and I prefer things on the quiet side. I enjoy galleries, museums, movies--independent and mainstream, as long as they're well made, and music--classical, jazz, and the Beatles. I'm a pet lover and a vegetarian, but not intolerant about it. I am trim and fit and exercise regularly, but I'm not an exercise addict. I'm quirky and unconventional in some ways, but I live a pretty quiet, down-to-earth life. I've got a good sense of humor.

I'm looking for someone who is intelligent and well-read and uses his mind, but who down-to-earth, not an elitist, and not domineering or possessing of a nasty, hair-trigger temper. I'd like someone who takes good care of himself, is trim and fit, a non-smoker with no drug or substance abuse problems, someone who is fond of animals and treats others honorably and with civility. I like a good sense of humor and good wit, but not nastiness or sarcasm.
