The picture is of Joshua Samuel - my newest nephew. He was born September 4, 2004. He is a wonderful baby boy! (The other 14 are Michael, Wendy, Amy, Scott, Tiffany, Jarrod, Lacey, Caitlin, Jordan, Avery, Carson, Nathan, Mercy, and Naomi)
Am currently working on a MSW. An area that I have special interest in is Victim and Survivor Services. I am currently working on getting certified. I already have a BA in Administration and a MA in Religious Education. (more about that later). Anyway, my passion in Victim / Survivor Services is working with those that are survivors of suicide. I am a survivor of suicide having lost my younger brother, John, on January 16, 2003. My story about John is on the Message Board.
Back to the Religious Education thing. I earned my Masters in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Yes a very conservative seminary. Although 20 years ago when I was there it was not as conservative. However, I now call myself a "Recovering Baptist". I have a much more liberal view on Spirituality - always did, just being more vocal now.
I enjoy a lot of things - reading, writing, movies, collecting dolls, making quilts, cooking, dining out, working on my 130+ year old house (I can wire, plumb, hang sheetrock, and more), music, and more. I am a lacto vegetarian - for those that need a translations - I do not eat meat or eggs, but do eat some dairy products (i.e. cheese). My only resolution for 2005 is to continue improving my diet and go to a vegan diet. Giving up cheese is the biggest challenge.
I do not have kids, but have a total of 15 nieces and nephews ranging in age from 38 years to Joshua (in the pic). I also have a 13 year old dog, Jasper Joy. And a 9 month old cat - Delilah.
I am beginning the process to get into Law School beginning in the fall of 2007. I will be pursuing public interest law and working in that field. I want to use that education as another tool in working to prosecute the users and abusers of children, batterers of people, and for advocating for better care for people with mental health challenges. Okay any one of those areas will be good, but I am passionate about working for people.
I enjoy working on my old Victorian house, collecting dolls, making quilts, cooking, music, concerts, movies (if movies filled with love and roamance are called chick flicks, why aren't movies filled with blood and gore called dick flicks?), reading, writing, great conversation, and more.
I enjoy online games on Yahoo! mostly. Play word games a lot - challenge me -
