I am a community organizer (professional activist) working with inner city youth in NE Wichita. I am very dedicated to issues of self-determination and economic and social justice. The youth I’ve organized have shut down crackhouses, received national attention when we won a new summer jobs program in spite of massive regional layoffs, and negotiated sucessfully with the largest school district in Kansas to end its disproportionate minority suspension rate. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
Additionally I've worked on living wage campaigns, and several clean-indoor air ordinances despite my hypocritical cigar vice, and as a bouncer in a nightclub. My worst fear is waking up one day and realizing I had done something mundane and meaningless (financial analyst, CEO, Anne Coulter, etc. ) for 40 years.
I am a chronic risk taker, and can be either incredibly confrontational if you are doing wrong, or often do the strong silent thing.
I'm very opinionated. Can’t spell. I read voraciously, but am too action orientated to be an academic. I like outdoorsy stuff, hiking and backpacking. I'm also a very music orientated person, have a nice music collection and see alot of concerts.
I would say something about having a good sense of humor, but EVERYONE says that about themselves, and its just not statistically possible that everyone does. Frankly, some of you aren’t funny at all. My sense of humor is somewhere between Voltaire's Candide, and Cartoon Network Adult Swim original cartoons.
