Very much a progressive, a.k.a. liberal. I am not a 'people' person, but love animals and currently have three white dogs. I have been 'on my own' since the age of 22. I am retired from IBM, but am currently working full time at the University. I was married at 19 and left college at that time so my husband wouldn't be sent to Viet Nam. I became active in the anti-war movement in the late '60's and was interested in an alternate life-style. However, with the birth of my son and then divorce, I was required to find a method of supporting us! So just like that, I entered into the exciting field of mainframe computing! It was my years within the corporate world where I became more convinced of the 'two Americas' and my progessive ideas were formed.
I believe that we, as a country, are on the brink of fascism. I have renewed my activism since W stole the election in 2000.
I have been working on restoring my huge Victorian house for the last nine years....it is the world's largest do-it-yourself project! I also enjoy the arts and crafts...I paint, crochet, knit, weave, quilt, antique, etc. I am a stay-at-home person. I would love to really retire to either Ireland or Scotland, but with the US dollar dropping against the Euro and pound, that dream becomes more elusive each year.
