I’d describe myself as focused and well-centered, earthy and hard-working, with the heart of a romantic. I keep myself in shape by running, biking into work, and leading an active lifestyle. My interests are wide ranging and tend to be outdoor-centric; I enjoy hiking in wild places, cross-country skiing, soaking in hot springs, and chasing upland birds with my dogs. I work as a postdoctoral research biologist with the Forest Service. I enjoy blowing off steam by occasionally drinking a few beers with friends, watching good movies, concocting healthy meals in the kitchen, stretching my brain by reading or attending seminars, or working on house projects. I’ll try almost anything once, and have no qualms about attending the opera, roaming through the Botanical Garden or local museums, going rock climbing, etc. I like to take in information about the world around me and rely on NPR, PBS, and the blogosphere to obtain much of that information.

My ideal match would be sympatico on all discernable levels; emotional, physical, spiritual, moral, intellectual, and personal. That person would be someone with a heart of gold who enjoys some of the same things that I do, works hard, enjoys their job, keeps themselves in shape, is at peace with themselves, and already thinks life is great, but that maybe it could be made a little bit better by sharing the journey with the right person. Someone who has a lifeplan and is serious about life (but not too serious—sillyness is required!) and living it to the fullest. Someone who is independent and their own complete person, yet can melt into my arms when the time is right. Someone who has a social conscience to go with an open, caring, and inquisitive heart and mind and the capacity for quality conversation on a wide range of topics. Beyond that, I think it’s impossible to get more specific because a lot simply depends on the chemistry that two people have.
