GOT Passport?
Would you be interesting in an exotic new world view?
I have an art degree, but am not an artist. I do enjoy the arts in its many forms. Sculpture, dance, music, dramatics, etc. My favorite long weekend getaway is to Vegas for my fill of Cirque De Soliel. Is Cirque really art? You're damn tootin' it is! The beauty of finely honed and muscled athleticism inextricably interconnected with bone thumping percussion and brightly colored textures and lights is...well, if you haven't experienced it, let's go!
Don't be alarmed by the lack of TV in my world, I am just too busy with life to watch made up characters live it. (I DO rent movies and love to just sink into them) As such, I really am out of touch with what most Americans deem "current events." I couldn't care less what the Hilton chick did or how fat the actress is. If this makes me seem ditzy and out of touch so be it. (I do find the occasional rerun of Friends good for a laugh.) My library card holds as high an honor as my drivers license as far as my wallet caste system goes! The last few books that I have read: Cruel and Unusual:...by, Mark Crispin Miller, The End of Faith, by Sam Harris and a lot of web stuff by Joe Bageant. smirkingchimp and a few other sites are my early AM news source.
My day begins with a 5 or 6 AM jog with my 4 year old asleep in the baby jogger. Not that I am obsessed with working out, just that it makes me feel so much saner in a world gone mad. Also keeps me from requiring zoloft, paxil, prozac or any of the other happy pills. I follow the blood type diet so don't be too surprised to see me devour a large steak at any given time, (even breakfast)!! Just a warning: it's like feeding time a the zoo! *sniker*
Hobbies include attending peace rallies, home improvement projects, 5 and 10 K fun runs, and hanging out with my family. They are the most important thing in my life.
I am currently in the middle of a career change so life is a little wacky. I was a dance teacher for most of my adult life and it wasn't until my divorce that I realized that the IRS was right all those years: it really was just a "hobby." Am now back in college at ETSU working toward PE degree. Also personal trainer certification. Work full time with school system.
