I am a left leaning lawyer in a right leaning town. An environmentalist is shot in the town square each day at high noon. Please don't rat on me!!
Building long distance relationships is not easy, so I will try to give you a fairly accurate picture of who I am.
As far as my appearance is concerned, I don't feel old, but my wrinkles and greying hair suggest I am certainly not a spring chicken. My sister tells me I look a few years younger than my age and I hope she is right. You will be the judge. I am slender in build and keep in good shape. I was an athlete in high school but I do not have bulging muscles or broad shoulders. As far as body art, all I have is a few scars where I have been cut, bitten or kicked, usually by animals!
I live on a farm in a small town in northwestern Montana. It was named Libby after a popular woman of ill repute in its early days as a mining town. Libby is located in a mountain valley at the foot of the Cabinet Wilderness Area, home of a small population of Grizzly bear. There are many nearby lakes, rivers and streams, including the majestic Kootenai River. A dog named Kai and two horses (Shadow & Callie) share my acrage. I had a third horse, but he bucked me off 7 times in 2006. I took him to a trainer who returned him to me after three weeks with a diagnosis of devious and dangerous. He advised me to get rid of him and I followed his advice.
I am a lawyer by occupation. My practice centers primarily around real estate, estate planning and probate. I am also the city attorney. I like my work, my clients, and my secretaries. I take Kai to work each day, and he probably enjoys as good (maybe better) a relationship with my clients as I do.
I come from a close family. My sister and her husband, who are staunch Democrats, live near me. We enjoy getting together nearly each Saturday evening to have dinner and discuss meaningful topics about national politics and world affairs. A brother and his wife who live in Salem, Oregon are also strong Democrats.
I value good health and physical fitness. I feel it is important to understand our bodies and take good care of them. So far, I have managed to maintain good health in spite of being bucked off by Patches (I must admit that hitting the ground does hurt and realize that persistence after the first dive doesn't speak well of my judgment.)
I am not an expert in this realm, but I think I am more of a pragmatist than a romantic. I rely more on how I interact with and treat a woman than in bringing her flowers. I might even miss an important date or two. Consequently, I may not be as thoughtful or romantic as a woman would like.
Nevertheless, I think I have some redeeming features which might contribute to the happiness of another person. Therefore, I seek to form an intimate relationship with a woman based on love and mutual respect. I am looking for a true partner, someone with whom I can communicate openly and freely. I am not proud, so I would not be offended by hints, nudges or reminders. I prefer a harmonious relationship but one that is stimulating. When inevitable disputes arise, I would seek creative compromises.
I prefer being around kind, sincere, genuine, flexible people who have a sense of humor. I also enjoy the company of someone who is intelligent, inquisitive, and enjoys lively discussions about important topics. I am not into trivia or gossip. I dislike being around arrogant, self-centered, controlling, or insensitive people. Assertiveness, on the other hand, is a turn on.
I am not an exciting, charismatic, energetic man. Because of the demands on my time, , I am not strong into causes (except survival). I am not wealthy, either. Rather, I tend to live a simple life centered around learning, giving, laughing, and the Golden Rule.
Although I enjoy traveling and learning about new cultures (I have spent time in east and west Europe), travel is not a high priority for me. Maybe that is because of my responsibilities at the office and on my farm. It seems there is always something that must be done. On the other hand, that might change if I had a companion to help organize and encourage me.
My personality varies. Sometimes, I am cheerful and humorous, sometimes quiet and serious. For the most part, I am calm, easy going and friendly. I tend to be a good listener, easy to talk with, interesting, very inquisitive, and fun to be around when I am not too stressed and am with the right person.
I have a many interests, some of which I am not able to pursue as much as I would like. I enjoy hiking in nearby mountains and Glacier Park, walking in nearby forests, taking photos of nature's beauty, listening to music (primarily classic, instrumental), reading (mostly non-fiction), horseback riding, writing, watching CSPAN, CNN, PBS and the History Channel, reading Truthout, and talking with family and friends. Although I am not that good at it, I enjoy playing chess, fiercely defending my King until the bitter end (which, sometimes, doesn't take too long).
As far as politics is concerned, I am and always have been a Democrat. I have always been empathetic to those who are less fortunate than I am. I have represented the interests of Native Americans. I contribute to many charities, primarily humanitarian, environmental and Native American. I also contribute heavily to the Democratic Party. I do my best to conserve energy and recycle waste materials. However, I am not a fanatic, and I have friends who are Republican.
