Full disclosure: I am a leftie, but not really a Democrat. I'm more of a progressive/anti-Repugnicant. I don't think any 'party' represents my views... it seems that politicians are more interested in getting re-elected than in representing my 'values.' So, you might ask "why am I doing this DemocraticMatch thing?" The truth is that I work from my home and don't care much for the bar scene so I don't encounter many single females. And, living in Talibama most of the women I do encounter are 'conservative,' which completely negates anything else about them that might be appealing.

That said... I'm independent, opinionated but open-minded, and honest (to a fault at times)... I like the same traits in other people. I like too many things to list - and I like to try new things. I appreciate art and music and have dabbled in both, but only for my own amusement. I read a lot, mostly nonfiction. I like outdoor activities like golf & cycling, as opposed to traditional "Southern Sports", i.e. hunting, fishing, NASCAR, tossing cow-pies, etc. I like to discuss/debate politics, religion, philosophy, etc. - as long as there are thoughts/reasons to support the arguments. I'm 49, but people have always told me that I look much younger (that used to be a problem).

I like to spend time with intelligent and articulate people. I'm drawn to smart, funny, attractive, open-minded/non-judgemental women of integrity who have their own opinions - and didn't vote for George Bush. Independent, honest and educated are some of the words that could be used to describe women I like to be around. Age, height, hair color, etc. are not so important, but the ability and willingness to engage in social and sports-type activities is fairly important. I think amiable companionship is a reasonable goal for now.
