I have been a Democrat since first voting at age 20 (Hawaii), but have an independent mind on most matters. However in the last few decades it has been heavily along party lines. Also, I have been a unionist for the same period. So one can see that this present administration gets two thumbs down from me on many points.
Presently I am living on a 10 acre homestead in Okanogan, Wa. (four season, high desert...yes, there is snow!! Got snowshoes or ski's??) with an off grid solar system for my electricity and a 40x40ft organic garden suppling most of my food (I am mostly vegetarian, but do bbq's now and then). I retired (Y2K) from Boeing and now enjoy just about anything (all legal) without the millstone of 9-5 bugging me!! Home for now is a self design/built, 20x20 half lofted cabin but I am getting the itch to build something much larger. I perfer hand tools to power and whatever is built, it will have craftsman(woman)ship as the keystone.
I am not a jock, but keep fit with a sensible exercise program and physical labor about the place. Jazz and classical are top in the music department, but only rap will give me the fits.
Although in the country (some might say boonies), a 10 mile drive delievers me into a thriving area of 25K+ people, so this is not Little House on the Prarie stuff...Community is here with all it's variations to choose from. I am active in the community garden program and other civic events.
My life style is simple: along the tenants of Voluntary Simplicity (VS) with more than a dash of back to the land. A creature of fashion and shopping I am NOT !! My life does not want "things", since what I do purchase is used purposely and to it's full lifespan. I recycle like crazy and have pets (two cats and a big yellow dog is planned for 2006).I do not hunt and only fish while on extended kayak trips (oh, did I mention kayaking took over my cig addiction in 89???). Years ago I learned ASL (American Sign Language) but have not used it since over here...anyone Native ASL or sign??
Interest: I have a bunch. B/W Photography in Medium and large format, digital photography, ham radio, ecology, recycling, beer making, good food (cooking and eating), movies, etc.
