I'm a 31 year old grad student who is looking for a friendship that could possibly turn into more. Like most people, I have both a serious side and a fun side. I'm dedicated to my studies and am very career-oriented. My interests range from books of almost all kinds to movies to history to popular culture to baseball. I'm interested in travel and exploring different cultures. I'm also a huge music fan, especially classic rock. Also a big movie fan. I won't force you to watch romantic movies with me, but you shouldn't make too much fun of me when I do. I'm pretty independent, but I wouldn't complain too loudly about being spoiled every so often. : ) This is also a love-me, love-my-dog situation.


While I tend to be fairly cerebral, I'm the kind of person who can have fun in any situation and enjoys trying new things. I like intelligent humor and things that are random appeal to me. My favorite things -- the ocean, Eric Clapton, Van Gogh, (my) dogs, C-SPAN, karaoke, bowling, Kurt Vonnegut, House M.D, antiques, Hepburns (Audrey and Katherine), foreign languages, old movies, Family Guy, Salvadore Dali, travel, Sarah Vowell, politics, Casablanca, swimming, David Sedaris, the Daily Show, boats, Coupling (BBC version), Chopin, chai tea, 60s and 70s music, Monty Python, sliding across the floor in my socks, Firefly/Serenity, and Wurlitzer jukeboxes. Just to name a few. : )

It's difficult to articulate what I want in a relationship. My perfect match would be someone who shared many of my interests, but it's important that he have some of his own. It's incredibly important that two people complement each other and can grow together. I'm looking for someone who is well-educated, intelligent, professional, kind, gracious, and creative, with a great/random sense of humor. It's important to me that my match be middle of the road or liberal. I don't expect or want someone from a Harlequin novel, but at the same time I'd like someone who believes in romantic gestures.
