I am a college student who seeks to help change in the world. I am a proud Democrat who supports universal healthcare, a better-funded education system for all, alternative energy, a more equitable economic system with fair trade and heavy restrictions on corporations while strengthening small businesses, an end to the US's economic wars, giving our troops the true respect they deserve by actually giving them decent health benefits, using the money we are wasting in Iraq to help the homeless and the poor, a just, peaceful, two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that will benefit both peoples, and an end to the so-called "war on terror", since it's impossible to stop terrorism the way we're currently doing so--we need a better strategy than what we have now. I fully support a woman's right to choose, gay's rights to be married, an end to racial profiling of largely black and hispanic males by many police officers, an end to the racially unjust "war on drugs", an end to domestic violence, and more respect for the environment in our every day lives. Who am I as a person? I can be shy around people I don't know, but I'm confident in who I am and if I strongly believe in something, I won't back down. I don't ever get into political arguments because I think that if you're strong enough in your views to have an argument in the first place, neither of you will ever change your views, making it pointless to argue--I feel it's better just to have a respectful discussion instead. Other things about me are that I play the violin, I am a pesco-vegetarian (I sometimes have fish), I listen to R&B, some hip-hop, some reggae, but I have nothing against rock (I just don't really listen to it), I like to run, sometimes I like to swim or bike, I like to do martial arts (currently Shotokan Karate and Aikido, but I'm open to tips from other self-defense forms), and I like to just relax (watch movies, surf the net, chat with people, or whatever else is available to do). I consider myself a Jewish Buddhist--I'm ethnically half-Jewish so I'm getting into my Jewish ancestry and I've been getting more into Reform Judaism, but I'm also interested in Buddhism and Taoism as well. That's pretty much all I can think of for now.
