I am an avid traveller and reader who finds that mainstream society, especially on the right is so inane as to elude description. It's almost like Americans live in an absurdist play, especially since 2001. I have been fairly active on progressive issues for several years. first in NC and now up here in Maine.

I feel that something must be done to try to save America from the scourge of the right, or barring that, to save some of the good of the American people and culture to rebuild after the conservatives destroy the country.

Since I tend to go on long political rants, you need to be either extremely patient or be intelligent enough to join in the rant and bring it to greater heights of interesting discourse. I tend to have a viscereal contempt for wealth and privelege, so don't ask me if I have a 401(k) or stock portfolio, this will bring on a very angry rant.

As I mentioned above, I find most American pop culture inane, so don't ask me whether i saw the most recent episode of Desparate Housewives or similar such drivel, this will bring on an even more angry and annoyed rant.

Please be able to hold down an intellectual conversation, inability to do so will bring on a series of ever angrier and more annoyed and frustrated rants.

That unpleasantness out of the way, I'm generally tolerant of just about anything else.

I will still rant though.
