Who I am |
|
I am a woman in awe of the courage and creativity it takes to live a life rich in experience. My role models were: a patient and generous mother who started a literacy program and involved herself years ago in environmental and social issues; a father who worked extremely hard at international aviation and building our homes as we moved around; my undergraduate dean who nurtured thinking human beings with broad educational interests; writers, artists and musicians who enriched our lives, and colleagues and friends who are passionate about whatever they are passionate about. I am an working woman with a home in an old neighborhood. I love to travel and have a reverence for cultures and their art, architecture, music and dance. I work full-time, walk, swim, sail, garden a little, read, write letters, visit with friends, visit my mother weekly. I love my son and grandson with all my heart, but they live far away. I kinda' burned out on local democratic activism in past presidential elections stolen by the republicans, but may try to help out this coming year.
My hopes are more realistic than the 60's dream of John Lennon's "Imagine," though I wish there were no war and there were friendship, respect, and a reverence for the earth and its creatures, around the world. My hopes are simply that I can manifest some kindness and a peaceable nature, despite being fairly opinionated, and live a beautiful life.

Whom I am seeking |
|
I would be interested in a friend who loves the human tapestry, is reverend of nature and wildlife, likes the outdoors, listening to music, and to travel, read and learn new things. (Maybe even likes to snorkel and dance?) I'd like a friend who wants to appreciate others without prejudice about the spiritual, ethnic or economic differences of others. Hopefully, he recycles his garbage, votes, watches occasional TV but minimal, reads things he loves, enjoys movies with substance (current, old and foreign). He might take some pride in his ethnic heritage and his family traditions, but is neither narcissistic nor condescending toward women, minorities or the less fortunate. It would be lovely if he cares about giving back to his community or society, whether volunteering, or charitably while still working. He would be financially independent, because my work is not highly remunerative, though suffficient for me.
